The Work

Issue No. 1October 2026East London
Case study one · Exterior cleaning

Aurora Guard: a cleaning company that looks as careful as it works

Solar panels, roofs, gutters and windows in East London and Stilbaai. One website, two towns, two languages, and every claim on it checked.

Website · Google Ads · Meta ads · Animation · Print · Business system

Aurora Guard started like many small businesses do: a site made in an online builder, with an AI-written page or two, a contact form that went through somebody else's mail server, and no way to tell whether anyone found it on Google. It worked, but it couldn't grow.

We rebuilt it by hand as plain, fast pages: one for each service in each town it covers, from solar-panel cleaning in East London to holiday-house "Arrival Ready" cleans in Stilbaai. The Stilbaai pages have an Afrikaans section, because that is the language most of those homeowners speak.

What we built

  • 19 pages with structured data for Google, image sizes for every screen, and no unnecessary scripts
  • Lead tracking for every WhatsApp tap, call, email and quote form
  • A cleaned-up Google Business Profile, with the duplicate listing found and flagged
  • Two Google Ads Search campaigns: 132 keywords, 20 responsive ads, 167 negative keywords
  • Eight animated explainers in English and Afrikaans, cut for Shorts, Reels and the Facebook feed
  • Flyers, business cards and three van-livery concepts

Every sentence on the site had to be something the business could stand behind on a customer's roof.

The claims register

Small businesses get into trouble with copy that promises too much. We keep a register of what Aurora Guard may and may not say: no prices on flyers because every roof is different, no "insured" until the policy exists, no before-and-after photos that aren't from its own jobs, and no discounts in exchange for Google reviews, which Google's rules forbid. When an outside audit found a claim the equipment couldn't back up, we reworded it the same day.

The business's books run in Lemmco OS, the system in case study three: quotes, invoices, helper pay slips and job costing on a phone.

The site is live at auroraguard.co.za. Results take a season to show, and we will publish them here when we have them, not before.

Case study two · B2B software

A software company that lets the product do the selling

A South African compliance-software company. The client prefers not to be named, so this one has no logo and no screenshots.

Product website · Web app · Lead capture · Content

Business software is hard to sell with words. Buyers want to click around before they talk to anyone. So the centre of this site is a working demo: the product's document-control module, running entirely in the visitor's browser, with sample documents and no sign-up.

What we built

  • The product website and the web app behind it, on Next.js and Supabase
  • A self-contained demo that never touches real customer data
  • Enquiry and download forms that save the lead and email the owner straight away, from the database itself, so a broken page can never lose a lead
  • Limits that stop one visitor from flooding the inbox or burning through the email plan
  • A library of plain-language guides that brings search traffic in, and Google Ads to bridge the gap while it grows

The same approach, a demo first and paperwork later, is what we use to sell our own business system.

Case study three · Business system

Lemmco OS: one company, several brands, one set of books

Our own back office, built because no off-the-shelf product handled a small South African company trading under more than one name.

Web app · Phone-first · Accounting exports

Accounting packages are good at accounting. They are less good at the day: quoting from a driveway, paying a helper in cash at four o'clock, remembering which trips were for which job. Lemmco OS does the day, and hands the accountant clean exports at the end of the month.

What it does

  • A workspace per brand, each with its own logo, colours and document numbers
  • Quotes that become invoices in one click, as branded PDFs with the right legal line
  • Expenses with slips photographed on a phone, and purchase orders
  • Casual-labour slips signed on the phone, with minimum-wage and PAYE checks
  • A SARS kilometre logbook at the prescribed rate
  • Job costing: what each job cost and what it made
  • A group income statement across brands, with CSV exports for the accountant

We are turning it into a product for other small businesses. You can try it now with a fictional company, in your browser, without signing up.
